Meet the Leaders Behind the Mission: Introducing Hope Near Me’s New Board Members

At Hope Near Me, we believe ending food insecurity takes more than food.

It takes people.

It takes educators who understand how food impacts families. It takes leaders who know how to build sustainable organizations. It takes community advocates who understand that lasting change requires more than responding to today's crisis—it requires building systems that create a better tomorrow.

That's why we're incredibly excited to welcome two exceptional leaders to the Hope Near Me Board of Directors:

Christina Ezeagwuna, NTP — Head of Food Education & Community Impact

and

Omotola “The Great” Akinsola — Vice Chairman

Both bring unique expertise, experience, and perspectives that will help us strengthen our mission as we continue working to end food insecurity one neighborhood at a time.

Meet Christina Ezeagwuna, NTP

Head of Food Education & Community Impact

Christina Ezeagwuna is a community wellness advocate, Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, and founder of Plate Together LLC, a family-centered wellness company focused on strengthening household food systems, mealtime structure, and culturally grounded nourishment.

Her work sits at the intersection of food access, food usability, and community wellness.

And that distinction matters.

At Hope Near Me, our mission isn't simply to get food into someone's hands. We want to help make nutritious food accessible, practical, and meaningful for the families we serve.

Christina brings a powerful perspective to that work.

Through culturally responsive education, operational strategy, and family-centered approaches, she develops practical systems that support nourishment, dignity, and connection within communities.

As our Head of Food Education & Community Impact, Christina will help us think beyond distribution and continue asking an important question:

How can we make the food we provide truly work for the families receiving it?

We're excited about the knowledge, heart, and vision she brings to Hope Near Me.

Meet Omotola “The Great” Akinsola

Vice Chairman

Omotola “The Great” Akinsola is a Philanthropic Strategist, Assistant Professor, and Chief Executive Officer of JumpStart Academy.

His work has taken him across more than 45 countries, where he has empowered leaders, students, and changemakers through transformative training and consulting in nonprofit development, leadership, and social impact strategy.

That experience brings an important dimension to Hope Near Me as we grow.

Because our goal isn't simply to distribute more food.

Our goal is to build an organization capable of creating lasting, sustainable impact.

Omotola believes that meaningful impact should never depend on surviving from one crisis to the next.

Stability isn't something you hope for—it's something you design.

That philosophy aligns deeply with the future we're building at Hope Near Me.

As Vice Chairman, Omotola will help bring strategic leadership, organizational development, philanthropic insight, and a global perspective to our growing organization.

Building More Than a Food Pantry

When we started Hope Near Me, the vision was simple: end food insecurity one neighborhood at a time.

But as we've grown, we've realized that accomplishing that mission requires us to build something bigger than a traditional food pantry.

We need strong systems.

We need sustainable funding.

We need community partnerships.

We need education.

We need volunteers.

We need strategic leadership.

And most importantly, we need people who believe that every family deserves access to fresh, nutritious food and the dignity that comes with it.

Christina and Omotola bring exactly that kind of expertise to the table.

The Next Chapter of Hope Near Me

Our first distribution fed 125 families.

Our second distribution reached 400 families.

And we're just getting started.

As we look toward the future, we're working toward a vision where Hope Near Me can bring fresh groceries to communities throughout New York on a consistent basis—and eventually distribute food every week through our own mobile food pantry truck.

Getting there will require investment, partnerships, leadership, and a community of people who believe in what we're building.

We're grateful to have Christina and Omotola joining us for this next chapter.

Their expertise strengthens our organization.

Their perspectives challenge us to think bigger.

And their commitment to meaningful community impact will help us build a stronger foundation for the work ahead.

Welcome to the Hope Near Me Family

To Christina and Omotola:

Welcome to Hope Near Me.

We're honored to have you join our Board of Directors and excited about everything we can accomplish together.

The need is great.

The vision is bigger.

And with the right people around the table, we believe the impact can be even greater.

Hope Near Me — ending food insecurity one neighborhood at a time.
