Our Mission

Hope Near Me exists to eliminate food insecurity by bringing groceries directly to under-served neighborhoods, starting in the Bronx.

We operate using a unique "ice cream truck model"—complete with a recognizable jingle—to alert families that fresh groceries are available. We meet families where they are, removing barriers like transportation, long lines, and stigma. Our mission is rooted in the belief that every family deserves:

Meet the Founder, Jose Rivera

I've experienced food insecurity twice in my life—first as a child, and later as an adult with children depending on me. The guilt of not being able to provide for your children is a trauma that runs deep. Those experiences shaped everything about HOPENEARME.

I started this mission in 2024 by loading my own car with groceries and serving families directly. What began as one person with one car became a movement in November 2025 when a LinkedIn post about food insecurity went viral, connecting me with hundreds of supporters ready to help scale the mission.

I'm building the organization I wish existed when I was that hungry kid and when I was that struggling parent. This isn't just about food—it's about restoring dignity and breaking generational cycles. As a man of faith and action, I believe families can't wait for paperwork or perfect timing. They need help now, and that's exactly what we're providing.
